49ers’ Aiyuk Expresses Contract Concerns Amid Stalled Negotiations
The situation between the San Francisco 49ers and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk appears increasingly tense.
Aiyuk took to TikTok on Monday, sharing a video where he relayed to Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels, “They said they don’t want me back.”
Entering the final season of his rookie contract at 26 years old, Aiyuk has been seeking an extension, but talks with the 49ers have hit a snag. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler recently reported that negotiations have “stalled a bit.”
Aiyuk opted not to attend offseason training activities or mandatory minicamp, which could result in fines up to $104,259.
Reportedly benchmarking against the four-year, $120.01-million extension signed by Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown in May, Aiyuk and the 49ers have yet to find common ground. Prior to St. Brown’s deal, the two parties were reportedly not close to an agreement.
In 2023, Aiyuk posted career highs with 1,342 receiving yards and 17.9 yards per reception, leading the team with 75 receptions.
The future remains uncertain for Aiyuk as negotiations continue, highlighting ongoing tensions between the player and the 49ers organization.
