Guardiola thinks England will win Euro 2024

Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has expressed his confidence in England’s potential to clinch victory in Euro 2024, drawing parallels between their journey and his club’s ascent to continental success.

Having secured Manchester City’s maiden Champions League title last season, Guardiola believes Gareth Southgate’s England squad is primed to emulate such achievement despite previous disappointments. Notably, England suffered defeat in the Euro 2021 final against Italy, bowed out in the 2018 World Cup semi-finals to Croatia, and faced elimination in the 2022 World Cup quarter-finals against France.

Guardiola conveyed his optimism, stating, “They are really good. It’s not just the talent of the strikers, it’s the whole package, the whole group, and Gareth knows perfectly what he has to do.” He emphasized England’s progression in recent tournaments, highlighting their resilience despite setbacks.

Acknowledging England’s fervent football culture, Guardiola cited the nation’s passionate support as a motivating factor for players. He emphasized the importance of belief within the team, affirming, “Just believe it. If they believe it, they can do it. Believe it, believe it, they can do it.”

Guardiola also praised Phil Foden, a standout performer for Manchester City, who recently received the Football Writers’ Association men’s Player of the Year award. Reflecting on Foden’s potential, Guardiola remarked, “If he continues his career until the end here, and continues that level, he can be one of the best, that’s for sure.”

With Guardiola’s endorsement and Foden’s emergence as a key player, England aims to harness their collective strength and ambition in pursuit of Euro 2024 glory.
