Ludvig Åberg Withdraws from 2024 Wells Fargo Championship Due to Knee Issue

Ludvig Åberg, currently ranked sixth in the world, has withdrawn from the 2024 Wells Fargo Championship, citing a knee issue. Originally listed in the field for the event, his departure reduces the field to 69 competitors at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.

“I’m reaching out to let you all know that I’m going to have to withdraw from the Wells Fargo Championship,” Åberg wrote in a statement. “I was very excited to tee it up at Quail Hollow for the first time. Unfortunately, I’m dealing with a knee issue and after consulting with my doctors, we think it’s best that I take some additional time to rest. I hope everyone has a great week and I look forward to teeing it up next week.”

The 24-year-old Swede was set to make his debut at Quail Hollow, a course renowned for identifying young talent in the game. Notable players like Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler, and Max Homa claimed their first victories at Quail Hollow.

Åberg’s recent form has been impressive, with eight consecutive top-25 finishes, including a top-10 result at the RBC Heritage and a runner-up performance in his debut at the Masters.

With his sights now set on the PGA Championship at Valhalla next week, Åberg hopes his knee issue will subside in time for him to contend for the Wanamaker Trophy in his first attempt.
