Spain’s Provisional Euro Squad Includes Rodri & Cucurella

Manchester City’s Rodri, Chelsea’s Marc Cucurella, and Arsenal loanee David Raya have secured spots in Spain’s preliminary squad for the upcoming European Championships.

Despite notable omissions, such as Aston Villa’s Pau Torres and Tottenham’s Pedro Porro, manager Luis de la Fuente unveiled a 29-man squad, set to be trimmed by three before the June 7 deadline.

In a bold move, Barcelona prospects Lamine Yamal, 16, and Pau Cubarsi, 17, earned their places alongside newcomers Fermin Lopez and former Newcastle player Ayoze Perez.

Paris St-Germain’s Marco Asensio, boasting 38 caps, was left out of the squad.

De la Fuente, appointed in December 2022 after Luis Enrique’s departure, steered Spain to Nations League victory in 2023, marking their first major title in 11 years.

Spain, champions in 2008 and 2012, faces a challenging group with Italy, Croatia, and Albania. Their campaign kicks off on June 15 against Croatia in Berlin.
