Darke and Donovan to Lead Fox Euro 2024 Coverage, Strong and Holden to Cover Copa America
Ian Darke will team up with Landon Donovan as Fox’s lead broadcast duo for the European Championship this year, while John Strong and Stu Holden will handle the Copa America coverage.
With both tournaments occurring simultaneously, Fox announced on Thursday that it will deploy seven announcing teams.
Darke, a seasoned ESPN broadcaster, first collaborated with Donovan for Fox during the 2022 World Cup. He is one of seven British broadcasters assigned to the four Euro 2024 announcing teams.
The other pairings for Euro 2024 include Jacqui Oatley and Warren Barton, who also worked together during the 2022 World Cup, Derek Rae with former England goalkeeper Robert Green, and Darren Fletcher with former England midfielder Owen Hargreaves. Fletcher, a veteran British broadcaster, worked with Fox during the 2019 Yankees-Red Sox games in London. Notably, he is not a former teammate of Hargreaves from Manchester United.
All four Euro 2024 crews will be stationed in Germany, where the tournament is scheduled to take place from June 14 to July 14.
Strong and Holden, with Holden being a former U.S. midfielder, were Fox’s primary team for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups. JP Dellacamera will pair with Cobi Jones, continuing their partnership from the 2022 World Cup, and Luis Omar Tapia will team up with former American midfielder Maurice Edu. Tapia joined Fox this year after a ten-year stint at Univision.
Strong and Holden will be on-site for all U.S. national team matches at the Copa America, which will be held in the U.S. from June 20 to July 14. The U.S. is one of the invited teams in the 16-nation South American championship.
Dellacamera and Jones will cover matches both from stadiums and from Fox’s Los Angeles studio. Tapia and Edu will be based in Los Angeles.
Former referees Mark Clattenburg and Joe Machnik will serve as rules analysts.
The finals of both tournaments will create a doubleheader on July 14, with the Euro 2024 final in Berlin starting at 3 p.m. EDT and the Copa America final in Miami Gardens, Florida, beginning at 8 p.m. EDT.
