Cowser’s 2-Run Homer in 8th Propels Baltimore to 6th Consecutive Win, 4-2 over Atlanta

Colton Cowser’s eighth-inning two-run homer lifted the Baltimore Orioles to their sixth straight victory, defeating the Atlanta Braves 4-2 on Wednesday night.

Cade Povich delivered six scoreless innings in his second MLB start for Baltimore. The Orioles took a 2-0 lead in the third inning against Spencer Schwellenbach, with Cedric Mullins scoring on Gunnar Henderson’s groundout and Jorge Mateo crossing the plate on a throwing error by Matt Olson.

Atlanta tied the game in the eighth when Matt Olson hit a two-run home run off Keegan Akin (2-0). However, Cowser responded with a decisive home run to right-center field off Joe Jiménez (1-2), barely clearing the wall despite a leaping effort from center fielder Michael Harris II.

Craig Kimbrel closed the game with a perfect ninth inning, securing his 16th save of the season for the Orioles.

Povich, called up to bolster a depleted Baltimore pitching staff, allowed five hits, struck out six, and did not issue a walk. The 24-year-old left-hander had previously given up six runs in his debut against Toronto.

The Braves, now on a five-game losing streak, have struggled offensively, leaving a total of 18 men on base in the first two games of the series against Baltimore.
