Verstappen Triumphs Again at Canadian Grand Prix
Max Verstappen of Red Bull clinched victory at the Canadian Grand Prix on Sunday, marking his third consecutive win at the event.
Verstappen successfully held off Lando Norris from McLaren, who secured his fourth podium finish in the last five races.
“I think as a team, we did really well today,” Verstappen commented. “We remained calm. I think we pitted at the right time. Of course, the safety car worked out nicely for us. But even after that, we were managing the gaps quite well. I love it. That was a lot of fun. Those kinds of races, you need them once in a while.”
Mercedes’ George Russell, who started on pole, secured a podium finish by edging out his teammate Lewis Hamilton, who achieved his best finish of the season in fourth place.
“Felt like a missed opportunity to be honest,” Russell reflected. “First podium of the year. We truly had a fast car this weekend.”
The race turned out to be disappointing for Ferrari at Montreal’s Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, as both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz failed to finish.
Williams drivers Alex Albon and Logan Sargeant also retired early from the race.
Verstappen’s teammate at Red Bull, Sergio Pérez, faced another challenging race, marking his third consecutive non-finish. Red Bull recently extended Pérez’s contract for two years, securing his presence until the 2026 season.
