Emre Can Replaces Pavlovic in Germany’s Euro 2024 Squad Due to Tonsillitis
Bayern Munich midfielder Aleksandar Pavlovic, 20, who recently made his national debut for Germany, has been sidelined from the Euro 2024 squad due to tonsillitis. He was originally included in Julian Nagelsmann’s squad but missed the recent 2-1 victory over Greece. As a result, Pavlovic has been replaced by Emre Can, the experienced former Liverpool midfielder.
“We wanted to have another player in the squad who has played a lot of games, who knows how to deal with the pressure,” stated Nagelsmann regarding the decision to bring in Can, 30, who has 43 caps for Germany. The choice was made over Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka.
Germany, the tournament hosts, will commence their Euro 2024 campaign against Scotland on 14 June in Munich at 20:00 BST.
