Knicks to Re-Sign Anunoby on $212.5M Deal

The New York Knicks have secured a five-year, $212.5 million deal to retain OG Anunoby, sources confirmed to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Anunoby’s new contract includes a player option and a trade kicker. The 26-year-old forward played a key role for the Knicks last season, averaging 14.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, and a combined 2.7 blocks and steals per game in 23 appearances following his midseason trade from the Toronto Raptors.

During the playoffs, Anunoby contributed significantly, averaging 16.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while shooting 39.5% from three-point range in the team’s run to the second round. However, a hamstring injury sidelined him for Games 3-6 against the Indiana Pacers. He returned for Game 7 but played limited minutes.

Anunoby declined a $19.9 million player option for the 2024-25 season, making him a free agent if a new deal wasn’t reached by June 30. Sources indicated that he had maximum offers from other teams, but ultimately agreed with the Knicks’ long-term plans.

The agreement with Anunoby follows the Knicks’ acquisition of Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for five first-round picks. Bridges is expected to start alongside Anunoby and All-Star point guard Jalen Brunson, who previously played with Bridges at Villanova. Former Villanova players Josh Hart and Donte DiVincenzo are also set to play significant roles in the Knicks’ rotation next season.
