Mavericks Targeting Bronny James with 58th Pick in NBA Draft
The Dallas Mavericks are eyeing USC guard Bronny James with the 58th pick in June’s NBA draft, sources close to the situation have informed NBA insider Marc Stein.
However, the Mavericks believe it is unlikely that James, the son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James, will still be available at that position.
According to Stein, James is projected to be chosen earlier in the second round. Dallas holds the last pick at No. 58 following tampering violations that cost the Philadelphia 76ers and Phoenix Suns their respective second-round selections.
James has completed his pre-draft workouts with the Lakers and Suns, who hold picks No. 17 and No. 55 respectively. Phoenix will select again at No. 22 in the first round.
During his freshman season at USC, the 19-year-old appeared in 25 games, averaging 4.8 points and 2.1 assists per game. He shot 36.5% from the field and 26.7% from three-point range.
The first round of the NBA draft is scheduled for June 26, with the second round following on the subsequent day.
