Predators, Saros Agree on 8-Year Deal with $7.74M AAV
The Nashville Predators and goaltender Juuse Saros have come to terms on an eight-year contract extension with an average annual value of $7.74 million, according to a report by TSN’s Chris Johnston.
Saros, who is set to enter the final season of his current contract carrying a $5-million cap hit, will be eligible to sign the new agreement starting Monday.
The 29-year-old goaltender experienced a slightly off year by his high standards in the previous season but still managed to secure 35 wins, tying him for the sixth-most victories in the NHL, along with a .906 save percentage.
The Predators excelled following the All-Star break, ending the season with a 21-7-3 record. Saros played a pivotal role during this stretch, achieving a 16-5-3 record and a .912 save percentage.
In the playoffs, Saros posted a .900 save percentage and a 2.02 goals-against average before Nashville was eliminated by the Vancouver Canucks in the first round.
Over the last three seasons, Saros made over 60 starts each year, making him the busiest goaltender in the league during that period. He consistently finished within the top six in Vezina Trophy voting over the past four seasons and was a finalist for the award in 2022.
Selected by the Predators in the fourth round of the 2013 NHL Draft, Saros has a career .917 save percentage and a 182-119-32 record.
