Red Bull Takes Minority Stake, Shirt Sponsorship at Leeds
Red Bull has recently finalized the acquisition of a minority stake in Leeds United, a prominent English soccer club. The agreement, announced on Thursday, includes Red Bull’s emergence as the team’s shirt sponsor for the upcoming season.
This multi-year deal marks Red Bull’s expansion into the English football scene, adding to its existing portfolio which includes ownership of Leipzig in Germany and a longstanding association with Salzburg in Austria.
Despite a setback in their bid for promotion to the Premier League, as they narrowly lost to Southampton in the Championship playoff final, Leeds remains determined to reclaim their spot among England’s football elite.
Oliver Mintzlaff, CEO of Red Bull corporate projects and investments, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “The ambition to bring Leeds back to the Premier League and establish themselves in the best football league in the world fits very well with Red Bull. We look forward to the partnership and are optimistic and energized about the future.”
In addition to the commercial benefits, the deal injects fresh capital into Leeds United, providing vital resources to enhance their competitiveness both on and off the pitch. The club affirmed that the agreement allows them to pursue their promotion ambitions for the upcoming season.
Importantly, the club reassured fans that despite the partnership, there will be no alterations to the name and logo of Leeds United. Notably, the club’s ownership includes notable figures from the United States, including major-winning golfers Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth.
