Wojnarowski’s insights underscored a disparity in compensation expectations between Brown and the Kings, with Shams Charania noting conflicting figures of $10 million per year from Brown and a $7 million offer from the team, potentially rising to $9 million with bonuses.

Brown, who joined the Kings in May 2022, made an immediate impact by steering the team to a 48-34 record in his inaugural season. This achievement secured the Kings the No. 3 seed in the competitive Western Conference and marked their first playoff appearance since 2006. Despite a valiant effort, the Kings fell short in a closely contested first-round series against the Golden State Warriors, ending their playoff run in seven games.
